Software Requirements

CA Service Management installer performs prerequisite checks and mandatory validations before installing CA Service Management solution products. Ensure that you have the following prerequisites for CA Service Desk Manager (CA SDM), CA Service Catalog, and CA Asset Portfolio Management (CA APM) before proceeding with the installation:

CA Service Desk Manager Requirements

The following software are required for CA Service Desk Manager:

8dot3 name creation

Required for CA Service Desk Manager (CA SDM). You must enable the 8.3 name creation before installing CA Service Desk Manager on the Windows operating system.

Follow these steps:

  1. Execute the following command on the drive where you want to install CA SDM:

    <installation drive>:\Users\Administrator>FSUTIL.EXE 8dot3name query <installation drive>: 

    This example screenshot displays the status of 8dot3 name at volume and registry level:

     

  2. Changes the file system behavior for 8dot3 name in the following instances:
    When DefaultValue is specified, the registry key,
    HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\FileSystem\NtfsDisable8dot3NameCreationNtfsDisable8dot3NameCreationNtfsDisable8dot3NameCreation, will be set to the DefaultValue.

    The DefaultValue can have the following values:

    • 0: Enables 8dot3 name creation for all volumes on the system.

    • 1: Disables 8dot3 name creation for all volumes on the system.

    • 2: Sets 8dot3 name creation on a per volume basis.

    • 3: Disables 8dot3 name creation for all volumes except the system volume.

  3. To enable 8dot3 name, run the following command:

    <installation drive>:\Users\Administrator>FSUTIL.EXE 8dot3name set <installation drive>: 0

     

    1. For more information about how to enable 8dot3 name, see Microsoft Website and search for Fsutil 8dot3name.
    2. Ensure 8dot3name is enabled while creating a directory, otherwise the folder created will be without a valid short name.

PsTools Suite

Required for CA SDM. The PsTools Suite from Microsoft is optional for CA SDM. Enables to implement the CA SDM Interval Logging utility for collecting application performance and system statistics. Extract pstools.zip to any directory of your choice and add the directory to the Windows %PATH% environment variable. If PsTools is not available on your local machine, download it from Microsoft. JointJS

Required for xFlow interface. Jointjs is a JavaScript library which helps to visualize the SDM classic workflow as a graphical representation.The xFlow user interface uses Jointjs and requires certain files for successful installation. You must download the required JointJS files before starting the installation.

Perform the following steps:

  1. Download the CA Service Management 17.1 Third-Party Components DVD 500000000001005 from CA Support.

  2. Extract the Jointjs folder from the Jointjs.zip file.

  3. Verify that Jointjs folder includes the following files:
    joint.min.js
    joint.min..css

    Important: Note the path where you placed the Jointjs folder that includes the files. When you run the installer, on the screens corresponding to the xFlow installation you must provide the path for the Jointjs folder you saved.

CA Unified Self Service Requirements

The following software are required for CA Unified Self Service:

Liferay Portal Community Edition 6.1.2 GA3

Required for CA Unified Self-Service. Download the file liferay-portal-tomcat-6.1.2-ce-ga3-20130816114619181.zip from http://sourceforge.net/projects/lportal/files/Liferay%20Portal/6.1.2%20GA3/

Important! Do not install Liferay. The installer will install the downloaded version.

CA Asset Portfolio Management Requirements

The following software are required for CA Asset Portfolio Management:

Microsoft .NET Framework

The following version of Microsoft .NET Framework is required for CA Asset Portfolio Management installation:

  • Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0
  • Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0
  • Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.2
  • Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 feature for Windows Server 2012

Windows Installer 5.0

Required for CA APM. Microsoft Windows Installer is a component of the Windows operating system. Windows Installer provides a standard foundation for installing and uninstalling software.

Microsoft Web Services Enhancements 3.0

Required for CA APM. Microsoft Web Services Enhancements (WSE) 3.0 simplifies the development and deployment of secure Web services. It enables developers and administrators to apply security policies to Web services running on the .NET Framework 2.0.

Internet Information Services (IIS)

Required for CA APM and supports IIS version 7.5 or above. IIS is a flexible, general-purpose web server from Microsoft that runs on Windows systems to serve requested HTML pages or files.

CA Software Asset Manager (CA SAM)

Required for CA APM to manage software assets. You can download CA SAM from CA Support.

CA Software Change Manager (CA SCM) 12.6

Required for CA APM. The current release of CA APM supports the CA SCM version 12.6.

    Is Step#1 under JointJS correct? Is this a convenience? It is also on the 3rd party DVD/ISO, right?

    Under the JointJS instructions, there is no "CASM_17.1" under ftp://spmsdm127user@ftp.ca.com/. I found it under: ../Archive/CASM_17.1/
