Migrate an Enterprise Management Server Deployment

Last update May 10, 2018

In a migration scenario, you set up a new environment of the Enterprise Management Server while leaving an existing environment in use. An existing environment is in use until you migrate an enterprise data to the new environment. Migration ensures that there is no data loss and downtime during the switch to a new environment.

You can migrate an existing 12.8 CF3, 12.9 or 12.9.02 Enterprise Management Server to 14.

The following diagram provides a high-level view of the migration process:

Migrate an Enterprise Management Server Deployment

To migrate an Enterprise Management Server, follow these steps:

  1. Pre-Migration Checks
  2. Clone the Database
  3. Install the Enterprise Management Server in the Destination Environment
  4. Apply test fix - <xyz>. Existing customers with a valid CABI license can apply this test fix (on a primary and load balancing Enterprise Management Server) and continue to use the enterprise reporting feature.

For enterprise reporting documentation, refer to,

  5. Migrate the Policies
  6. Migrate Shared Account Passwords
  7. Install the Distribution Server in the Destination Environment
  8. Configure an Endpoint to the new Distribution Server
  9. Post Migration Task

Note: Cross platform migration is not supported. For example, you cannot migrate a source Enterprise Management Server on Windows to a destination Enterprise Management Server on Linux.
